Intermediate Guitar Lessons

Lessons at this level will aim at maturing what the student has already established in order to refine their playing.

An Intermediate musician has a solid grasp of the fundamentals: eg rhythm, timing, dynamics, tone etc

They will have already been introduced to a range of the following… Open chords, extended chords, bar chords, a variety of scales with an idea of what their uses are and how to use them, an ability to recognise guitar parts in songs and work some things out by ear, accompaniment, a secure grasp of rhythm and playing along in time, singing and playing some songs to a good standard with good expression (if that has been their focus), understanding their guitar and how to affect the sound quality acoustically or with an amp.

At this level it comes down to the amount of time you have put into playing and how effective this practise has been. It will be reflected in a smoothness and fluency in playing style as well as good expression and dynamics to bring music more alive.  Intermediate musicians already have a musical personality to a degree and some sense of direction.

Lessons at this level will aim at maturing what the student has already established in order to refine their playing. We will identify weaknesses and gaps to be improved upon and look at the next stages of goals that make sense for development. This could be to gain a place at a school or University, Grades, live performances and just for personal enjoyment.
