  1. Hi Jo,

I would like to take guitar lessons once a week. I am a complete beginner. How could this be arrange?

    Thanks.

    Kinds regards,
    Aleyois

    • Hi Aleyoia,
Are you based in Liverpool? If you are interested in lessons and based in Liverpool it is just a case of arranging a day and time for a lesson.
What style guitar are you looking to play?
      Cheers
      Jo

  2. Hi Jo,

I’d like to enquire about the possibility of starting up weekly lessons. I started playing guitar in my teens, more than ten years ago now, and just messed around with tablature until I got lessons for about six months aged 17.

For the past ten years I’ve come back to the guitar intermittently but would really like to get back into it and progress. My tuition all those years ago got as far as scales and the very early stages of learning to play lead, though this is a distant memory now.

When I was taught back then it was very much ‘monkey see monkey do’. This time I really want to learn more constructively so that I can learn to play by ear and by instinct rather than just learning ‘off by heart’.

I work 9-6 in the city centre and would like to arrange a regular day if possible.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

    • Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your enquiry. I received your message via email and responded to you there. Hopefully you have received it OK!

      Cheers
      Jo

  3. Hi Jo,

I am an advanced guitar player (self taught) and I am interested in achieving grades.
How long does it takes? How much do you charge per lesson?

    Thank you 🙂

    • Hi Tommy,

Cheers for getting in touch. Regards Grades it would depend on how much you already knew and how much time you were willing to put into the work. It’s very subjective. The grades require knowledge of scales, keys, understanding chord progressions etc If your theory knowledge is as advanced as your practical playing then it could progress fairly quickly but until I know what your abilities are I couldn’t give you a time frame. The best thing to do would be to arrange a lesson. Also, what are your reasons for wanting to achieve grades? Are you a regular performing guitarist?

If you’d like any more information or would like to talk about it please feel free to ask!

I look forward to hearing from you.
      Jo

  5. Hi Jo

I am interested in starting guitar lessons, I am not a complete beginner and have been playing for 3 years so I’m kind of intermediate but I was curious do you offer fingerstyle guitar lessons ?

    Jonathan

    • Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the message. I do Folk & Blues fingerstyle. Are there particular artists or styles you are looking into?

      Cheers
      Jo

  6. Hi Jo,

I Am Interested in starting guitar lessons with you as a beginner. How can I arrange this? Also will I be provided with a guitar during lessons?

    Thanks

    Dominique

    • Hi Dominique,
      Thanks for your message,
We can arrange it via email or phone, whichever is most convenient. If you contact either: jo@jobywaterguitartuition.com or 07810 267574. If you would like to leave your number or email it to me I would be happy to get in touch with you.
Regards a guitar- you would need to supply your own. Practising in between lessons is a valuable part of learning / processing what you learn in the lesson so I ask all my students to have their own/have access to a guitar.
      Many thanks
      Jo

  7. Hi,

  8. Hi, Jo. I dunno if you’ll remember me, bit I’ve worked with you a few times at the Get Real workshop in LIPA. My vocal coach, Carrie, told me that you offer guitar lessons. I’m looking to take it up to learn some basic skills to aid with my songwriting. Where do your lessons take place and what days/times are you available? I’m only looking for 30 minute lessons if thats okay with you.

I was looking to start acoustic guitar lessons again. I’m not a complete begginer, but very much a novice just playing about with a few chords really but would like to learn and develop more. Work can interfere with my spare time so was looking if you had any half hour lesions free?

    Many thanks

    Gareth

  14. I would like to learn the electric guitar. I have a guitar and speaker, I am a beginner. I live in Norris Green.

  15. Afternoon.
Live in Southport. Have played for 34 years – if I’d practiced and kept at it rather than taking a 10-15 year break I would obviously be further ahead. Have been getting alot more into it the past year or so. Picking up bits here and there and have been eyeing up licklibrary for extra tuition. With a view to going to Jam nights and forming a band. I would like to advance knowledge of scales/modes/chords and theory, and string skipping, speed picking, arpeggios, fretboard knowledge and most importantly how to put it all together into use able material – influences are vast – some are the obvious – hendrix, page, kossof, gilmour, knopfler, satriani, Moore, Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Soundgarden, Bettencourt, van Halen, zakk wylde, tool, chilli peppers, police, stones, black crowes, bonamassa, guns’n’roses. Also am interested in Mr Knopflers style and learning more finger picking. Have been attempting to nail Cavatina amongst other songs for afew months. Would like to learn classical/spanish/bluegrass/slide aswell as grading. Can you help? Can you offer advice please? Many thanks. I reckon that graded exams could assist meself also.

  16. Hello Jo,
I am looking to learn the electric guitar as a beginner. I have my own guitar and did reach a very basic level with self tuition which was fun. However, I became frustrated with my progress and haven’t picked up the guitar in months. I am hoping you can help rekindle my enthusiasm and help me progress a bit further. I am based in Liverpool so would be keen to know what days / times you teach
    Many thanks
    Steve

  17. Hey jo,

I’m looking at taking guitar lessons, I’d like to learn mostly country music if possible but would just like to learn and if I have the tools to play that genre in time myself I’d be made up.

    Regards
