Song Lessons – STICK SEASON by Noah Kahan (as the record)
Stick Season by Noah Kahan has a great uptempo feel. We all need some bouncy acoustic songs in our repertoire.
This song is made up of 4 chords the whole tune. The variety is created by the way these chords are played.
We start off with a picking pattern, followed by the strumming pattern.
Song Lessons – True Colours by Cyndi Lauper (Acoustic chords with Picking Intro)
True Colours. Another classic. Released in 1986. Sung by Cindi Lauper. Also recorded for the film Trolls by Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick. The original recording is synth-based but it really lends itself very well to an acoustic guitar arrangement.
A lyrically beautiful song with some nice picking motifs for the guitar, resonating chords in the Verses and topped off with some simple strums in the chorus.
Song Lesson – Lilac Wine by Jeff Buckley (chords & video lesson link)
When I first heard Jeff Buckley’s version of Lilac Wine on the Grace album it was a moment I’ll never forget. Sparse, haunting, visceral, stunning melody, very humble guitar creating an atmosphere, not at all overplayed. Truly captivating. A story beautifully told…
Today will be a journey through the chords of this song. It’s perfect in its simplicity to play and sing along to if you fancy a go at some tasty chords.
